Best Homemade Chex Mix Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups Rice Chex cereal
  • 4 cups Wheat Chex cereal
  • 2 cups rye chips (you can find these in the snack aisle, or use a bag of garlic rye chips)
  • 1 cup pretzels (optional)
  • 1 cup mixed nuts (optional)
  • 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt (or to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika (optional, for extra flavor)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven to 250°F (120°C).
  2. Mix the Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the Rice Chex, Wheat Chex, rye chips, pretzels, and nuts (if using). Stir to combine.
  3. Prepare the Seasoning: In a small bowl, mix the melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and smoked paprika until well blended.
  4. Coat the Mix: Pour the seasoning mixture over the cereal mixture. Gently stir to evenly coat all the pieces.
  5. Bake the Chex Mix: Spread the mixture on a large baking sheet in an even layer. Bake for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes for even toasting and flavor.
  6. Cool and Store: Allow the Chex Mix to cool completely on the baking sheet before serving.
  7. Storage: Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
